7 Habits to strengthen your Immune System

It is simpler than you think to take good care of your health and wellness. Making little changes can have a huge impact on your overall health and wellbeing

Our immune systems often get down for many reasons such as changing weather, eating something unusual or even giving our body the correct amount of nutrients, and this is when illnesses can creep into our lives.
Maintaining healthy habits every day is the best way to keep your immune system strong and that’s why we decided to put together 7 good habits to protect your body and keep your immune system up to scratch. When these points become habits, taking care of your body will be as easy and automated as brushing your teeth!

1. Drink at least 2L of water per day

Drinking water keeps your body hydrated and helps in the absorption of nutrients. If you don’t usually drink enough water start by adding a couple of lime slices or cucumber into it or keeping a big bottle full in your workplace and challenging yourself to drink it all. You can also add a glass of water before every meal, this habit will not only keep hydrated but also help you eat more consciously.

2. Eat until you are 80% full

This is a wise Japanese practice called “hara hachi bu” and according to that belief people who practice this habit everyday may live longer and better. When you are able to eat only until your stomach feels around 80% full, it not only gets easier to stay fit but also helps your digestive system to perform the digestion quicker and break down food more efficiently.

3. Get into juicing

Juicing veggies with some fruit for your morning or afternoon snacks is a great way to increase vitamin intake and to fuel your day with nutritious snacks that will also boost your immune system. It will also make you feel full for longer so you don’t pick at unhealthy snacks in between meals .

4. Stay away from processed foods and refined sugar

Ready to eat and frozen meals may seem convenient and easy, but most of them dont have enough nutrients to nourish your body. When you eat processed foods full of bad fats and added sugar you are feeding your body in a poor way. Simple replacements can be very beneficial to your body such as drinking a fresh juice instead of a processed one, replacing your processed chips for a fruit or even just diminishing the amount of refined sugar in your coffee.

5. Avoid stress

It may seem obvious, but stress and tension can seriously impact your immune system. Schedule a time of the day when you can have some time for yourself to relax, get a massage, try yoga, or just go for a walk to get some fresh air.

6. Rest and sleep

It is absolutely vital to your immune system that your body gets the required amount of rest and sleep every day. Try to maintain a regular sleep pattern with quality and your body and mind will thank you!

7. Exercise!

Physical activity is a great way to keep you and your immune system healthy. At least 30 minutes of exercise everyday – walking, stretching, running – will go a long way towards boosting your immune system and your overall health.
